Update

Wow! It has been a REALLY long time since I've posted anything! I'll just give a quick summary of what has happened in the last 5 months! We've had a crazy, but great summer so far. I'm sad it's almost over though. Me, my boys, my sister, and her baby all moved to a house in Sugar House. It's so nice having our own place again. Oliver turned 2 on May 25th. He is such a trouble maker and is definately all boy! He gets into everything, and climbs like crazy. He just recently discovered that he can climb out of his crib! That is trouble. Jack will be 4 at the end of October!! How did that happen? Before I know it he's going to be going to school, and wanting to have sleep overs with his friends. I'm so not ready for that! His MRI is now scheduled for next Wednesday. He's been healthy the last few weeks so I'm hoping he will stay that way so we can get this dang thing done! Milo is going to be 7 months next week and he is getting so big! He weighs 17 pounds now...my boys both only weigh 22 pounds. It's crazy. He is starting to jabber all the time and is starting to move around all over the place. It's been so much fun to be able to have him live with us and help raise him. Jack and Ollie love trying to play toys with him and try to take care of him. Milo is so entertained by them and loves to laugh at them.
I've just been working like crazy at Aero still. Love it some days, hate it others. Mostly it's just hard being away from my boys so much. I don't know how some moms go back to work after only 6 weeks from having a baby. I had 3 years and am still having a hard time! Still not divorced yet....So frustrating. But the lawyer is working on the papers now so hopefully it will be done soon. I've been dating a few boys here and there, but I definately am not used to the single life! I forgot how frustrating dating, and boys, are.
Other than that, not a whole lot has been going on! Here's just a few pictures from the 4th. I'll hopefully post again soon and put more summer pictures on.

RSV, RSV, RSV

Jack, Ollie, and now Milo, all definately have RSV. It has been a very long a tiring week! Oliver started out with pneumonia and I knew he wasn't getting better. Jack for almost 2 weeks now has refused to get out of his bed. Neither of them will eat. Not even tomatoes, and if you know my boys that will shock you. They both have the worst sounding coughs and Jack coughs so hard he throws up. Not just once in a while, but every time he coughs. I took both of them into the doctor on Monday but by the time we got there of course they both stopped coughing. I was sure they were going to send me home and tell me I am way too paranoid. Instead we got sent to the emergency room at Primary's because Jack's oxygen was low. (flashback from 3 years ago) Our doctor also found he has an ear infection. Luckily after being given steroids and a breathing treatment his oxygen came back up. He had some x-rays done and sure enough he also has pneumonia. Suprisingly we were able to go home. But unlucky for Milo that means exposure to 2 boys wih RSV and pneumonia. 3 days later we returned to our pediatrician and sure enough Milo has caught RSV. Since there is no treatment for it we just have to tough it out. This is a much different scenario than it was 3 years ago and I am very thankful all the boys are able to keep their oxygen up and stay out of the ICU.

Also, we had to re-schedule (again) Jack's MRI since he is so sick. The new date is February 25th. Hopefully he will be better by then. He also had his appointment with the geneticist. He is positive Jack does have Russel Silver Syndrome but is unsure the growth hormones will work on him. Apparently 90% of kids with this do not respond to the hormones. So now we have to convince medicaid to approve 6 more "unnecessary" tests to find out if they will work.

I absolutely love that Jack and Ollie are best friends. They love each other, and more than that they love getting into trouble together. If one of them is doing something bad, I can always count on the other one being the partner in crime. The other day I walked into the bathroom and discovered that they had found Sammy's bottle brush cleaner and they were scrubbing the toilet (and walls, and floor, and rug, and each other) with it. So gross. They were both giggling so hard about it that I couldn't even try to get mad and ended up laughing with them. Then Jack announces he needs to go potty and like always, he wants me to go out and Ollie to stay with him. So I leave and a few minutes later the laughing begins again. Sammy then informs me that Jack is yelling "Scram" to Ollie. So I go in to check on them and this is what I found:

Delayed

Jack was supposed to have his MRI done this morning, but of course last night he got sick. I was hoping he would be okay by morning but he only got worse. I called the doctors office this morning to see if he would still be okay to have it done but they said no. He has a fever and a cough, and when he coughs hard he always throws up. I guess it is too risky to do an MRI while he is sick since he has to be sedated for the test. So we had to reschedule for next Friday. I will let you all know how it goes next week!

Jack's eye appointment

I've been noticing for quite a while now that Jack's eyes just don't look right, so I finally made an appointment for him to see the doctor. His eyes bounce back and forth and sometimes it looks like he has a lazy eye. So I was expecting the doctors to give him eye exercises to do to help fix it, possibly even get glasses. Well after 3 hours of being there, the doctors let us know it just was not going to be that simple. Jack apparently has something called Nistigmus, which is the eye bouncing, and occular rotation. The Nistigmus is caused by the muscles in his eyes pulling in different directions so his eyes are not aligned the way they should be. The occular rotation makes his eyes rotate kinda in a circle, like they are rocking. Both of these will cause him to lose his vision if we do not fix it right away. So we have an MRI scheduled the beginning of February to see if it is a neurological problem. If it is, then he will have to have brain surgery because they are assuming his brain stem is too short. If its not neurological (I pray it is not) then they will do a surgery on his eyes where they detach the muscles on his eyes and re-attach them so they are properly aligned. Either way, it is surgery. I feel so terrible for Jack, he just can't catch a break. It seems like as soon as one problem is fixed, another one develops. He is so strong though and I know he will make it through this too. He also will be having his genetic appointment in February and probably be starting the growth hormone therapy. I will keep everyone updated and I will post about it again after he has his MRI.

Trip to the E.R.

Oliver has been sick for a little over a week with what I assumed was just a cold. He started getting worse but since I was staying at the hospital with Sammy and Milo I couldn't leave to go home and take care of him. So my mother-in-law ended up taking him to our pediatrician who thought that it was just a cold too and he would get over it. Well the poor thing was coughing all night last night and sounded terrible. He was wheezing so bad and was having such a hard time breathing. Finally at 4 a.m. I decided I couldn't wait any longer to take him in and headed to the E.R. Having been through so much with Jack has made me very paranoid. So of course while we are waiting for our turn Ollie seems like he is already doing better. I start worrying that I just worry too much. It's a vicious cycle. But then they call our name so we head back to see the doctor. He orders RSV testing and an x-ray to check for pneumonia. The whole time we were there I just kept thinking I can not make it through this ordeal again! Luckily the RSV came back negative so I had a momentary sigh of relief. Then it was off to the x-ray. I was prepared to hold Ollie down with his arms above his head and listen to him scream while I try not to cry. Instead, I had to place him on a seat that had holes for his legs and then hold his arms above his head while they enclosed him in a plastic tube thingy that he couldn't even move in, and then had to listen to him not only scream, but look at the terror in his eyes as he wondered what we were letting these people do to him. It is the most heart breaking look. After the x-rays came back it was confirmed that he does have pneumonia... luckily we caught it before it had the chance to develop and they were just able to send us home with antibiotics and an inhaler for him to use. I am so happy that we caught it early and I hope he gets better fast. I had to send him to Jake's house though since Milo is now home. I feel awful that I can't be the one to comfort and take care of him while he is so sick. But I know it is better to have him with Jake than to risk getting Milo sick too. He is a tough little guy though and I know he will be better in no time!
